MAOUIST IN RASUWA: NOT “KIRTAN” BUT CRITICISM

Tax ticket for foreign tourist who visit Rasuwa district

One Moist soilders carrying arms in Betrawati bazar, Rasuwa

Tourist showing tax ticket at Dharapani ,Dhaibung of Rasuwa

Maoist Wel come board at Check point of Rasuwa

I am studying about Rasuwa from a few months .Rasuwa district lies in the central development region of the Himalayan region. Rasuwa district lies in the northern part of Nepal the Chinese boarder, 90km north of kathmandu. The population of Rasuwa is about 50,000 and the population density is 32people/km2. Rasuwa has many ethnic groups of people. more than 80% are from the Mongolian communities and rest of them are from groups such as Brahmins, Chhetris, Damai, Kami etc. the district has 18 village Development Communities.

The Maoist activities are increasing then in their underground periods. They have not more unitary powers in in Rasuwa, but their activities are trying to bring some waves in the political ponds. They are trying to show them as ordinary power of the developments. Some of their works are thankful such as the captured of RAKTACHANDAN but some of them are more polluted.

Last month had I visited Dhunche, the headquarter of the district. I have got opportunities of meetings some of the local leaders of Maoist .I talk with them for a long time in various subjects. They effort some how for the communication development in Rasuwa. They had started to publishing magazine named NAYA PRABHA (3 issues in a year.).This is more thankful work. Blindly I am not ready to criticize it is milestones for the communicational development in Rasuwa. After reading the 1st issues of it I came to know that it is more based on the Mission Journalism. There is not healthy competition in Mission Journalism. We can’t hope development, change from the Mission Journalism.
Journalism or mass communications broad and wide subjects. When it is in mission people do not believe in its information. I want to suggest left the mission journalism and try to develop the communication in Rasuwa. Many students from the Rasuwa are taking highest education use these man powers .
The above photo is related to the Maoist activities of the Rasuwa. They reached to the government and dissolved their parallel government. They used to take Rs 1000 as tax per foreign tourist. In average they collect 20-30 thousands per day. These events of Rasuwa also get priority in media, these effects on the tourism development of Rasuwa.Thousand rupees are not great thing, and we have to aware of overall effects of it.
Last week I had visit Thamel, “Brezel Bakery and Café”, the reputed café in Thamel area, where my friend Jivan Thapa Magar working. Commonly I visit this café when I get some rest. Here I got opportunities of talking with one foreigner David, from England. After of long informal talking I asked him about “Rasuwa?” He replied me that he was well known about Rasuwa. What do you get wrong in Rasuwa? I aked him. He replies me that-
“We have to pay tax for political parties in Rasuwa. We had already pay tax for the government of Nepal. Is there two governments in your single country? If it I will be the lucky person who visit the country having two government.”
I am unable to speak even a single word there. What will all of you reader speak in this moment? Write the comment.
BECAUSE
IT IS THE TIME OF CRITICISM NOT “KIRTAN”.

BETRAWATI

B order of districts.
E conomic centre of western no. 1.
T riangle at the three rivers.
R eligious and historical place in north.
A ttractive scenario.
W ay to Gosainkunda.
A rriable land for agriculture.
T reaty settled place with Tibet.
I nviolacy part of state.

Betrawati is one of the most important but shaded religious/historical place of Nepal. It is known as Uttargaya from religious side and there was effective treaty between Nepal and Tibet in 1849 B.S. (1792 A.D.).

In most of the religious occasions there is big fair and gatherings of the people at Betrawati. Such as in Gaijatra, Ekadashi, Janaipurnima, Ram Navami etc.Lack of the proper publicize this destination is in shade. It located only 78K.M. north from the capital city of Nepal. We can easily reach here with in 3 or 4 hours using any types of vehicle. Now in this rainy season (2006) there was a big flood which damages the beauty of Betrawati and also damages a lots of land properties.

CANVAS RESEARCH CENTRE aims the development of Betrawati. Publicize the religious and historical importance of the Betrawati and also expose Betrawati as possible destination of domestic and international tourism. It also aims to bring awareness on the local people for the protection and development. CANVAS made Documentary (BETRAWARTI ON HIDE) of Betrawati in the purpose of publishing it globally.
